What are the physics behind body shots? David Blaine Takes Kimbo Slice’s Hardest Body Shots

David Blaine is magician, escapist, and endurance artist. He likes to push his body to limits, by doing feats you wouldn’t see any regular human do. In this video, he replicates the famous illusionist Houdini, who died from a ruptured organ. He was well known for taking body shots by boxers, without getting dropped. However, one day, a man threw a sneak attack at him while he was unprepared.

David Blaine replicates the trick. The mechanics behind taking a body shot straight to the abdomen is quite simple. The first level of defense is the thickness of your skin, followed by the layer of fat. Next would be your abdominal muscles, proceeded by your internal organs. The trick is to tighten your abs right as they contact you, and exhale sharply.
