Elder individuals in an uncivilized society are seen as weak, and a liability. However, the developed world around us are civilized societies, and there’s a general rule that the elders should be respected. Perhaps the best example of this is Japan, where age plays a vital role in social dynamics.
Respect for elders is less important in the United States, though it is still an unspoken rule that is not generally followed. This comes to no surprise as many people lack etiquette. Regardless, current generations has evolved into many youth not having any respect for their elders. It is the result of soft parenting or the lack of parenting.
