There is a saying about disturbing the nest of hive like insects such as hornets, and bees. If one thing that natural selection has taught us, is to never disturb them without good protection for obvious reasons. There is no doubt that honey is delicious, and bees may be packed full of protein, so there is always a risk/reward factor going on.
Regardless, there will always be individuals who take that risk. These spiders that hunt for their prey rather than wait in their webs are risking death each time they try to approach these bee hives looking for easy prey. Over time, there will be less of them as natural selection prevents them from breeding.
